New CD « Italian Swing
Sisters » LEmpreinte digitale
/ Nocturne - June 2004
It started actually by a love at first
sight and a piece of good luck for Trio
Lescano's repertory, three sisters singing
in Italy during the 30/40s.
These three singers, known as "rebellious",
were using their ironic ditty songs to mock
the fascist power. Despite a great popular
success, they are arrested and put in jail.
As the result a of a quite incredible bet,
Delzioso went on the Lescano sisters traces
: first old recordings have been serched.
Then, vocal parts have been deciphered and
arranged. At the end, a choice for instrumental
parts : rather than chosing the full sound
of the big band which was the Lescano's
orchestra, Delizioso prefered a simple orchestration,
without any harmonic instrument.
Along with the pleasure of the discovery
came a curiosity for these women's story
where a defy to the authorities was mixed
together with naïve details. By trying
to reconstitute their story, Delizioso pay
homage to these ladies.
Voices : Maryam Chemirani,
Mardjane Chemirani and Catherine Catella
They come from different musical universes
: Maryam works in traditional songs repertory, Mardjane in blues and rock
and Catherine in jazz. Their voices are so complementary that it's difficult
to recognize them, sometimes they swing, sometimes they rock, sometimes they
hug.
Double bass : Jean-Yves
Abecassis
After classical studies at the Aix-en-Provence
Conservatory and precious classes with Niels Pedersen, he plays within
the jazz circle in the region. So, one could hear him next to Sandy Patton,

Armani, Roger Nikitoff...
Drum : Nicola Marinoni
Classical drums at the Milano and the Italian
Switzerland Conservatory, middle -eastern percussions at the AMR in
Genova, improvising at the Conservatory in Lucerne (Pierre Favre). This multi-instumentalist
